A new natural gas production site will start being exploited next October in the western Nile delta field, known as 9B, announced the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources of Egypt, Tarek El-Molla.

The new area comprises two deep-water wells, which belong to a concession of the U.S. oil company Shell, the minister explained.

El-Molla announced that ten new gas wells will be dug in the country during the next year to reach the goal of 400 million cubic feet of gas, with a total investment of 740 million dollars.

The declaration of the Egyptian Minister occurred during a meeting of the general assembly of the gas companies Rashid and Borolos, in this capital.

At the meeting, El-Molla announced the plan of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to intensify the drilling of exploratory wells, and thereby increase national gas and crude reserves.
